Drone batteries decide how long you stay in the air, and most pilots soon find that one pack is not enough. A camera drone usually flies about 20 to 45 minutes per battery, and less in wind, in summer heat or in the thinner Highveld air, so two or three spares turn a quick outing into a proper shoot. Whether you need original intelligent flight batteries, FPV packs, a charging hub, a car charger or a fire-resistant storage bag, send one request and drone shops near you quote you directly. It is free and there is no obligation.

Which kind of battery does your drone use?

Batteries are made for one drone family, so start with the exact model you fly:

  • Intelligent flight batteries: the click-in packs of folding camera drones. A built-in chip reports charge and cell health to the app and slowly discharges the pack to a storage level if it sits unused.
  • Plain LiPo packs: used on FPV drones and many kits. They are sold by cell count and capacity and need a balance charger.
  • High-capacity packs: longer flights, but heavier. On a mini drone a bigger pack can push the take-off weight over 250 g.
  • Enterprise and spray drone batteries: large packs that are swapped in the field and charged from a generator or a fast charging station.

What to check before you buy

Match the part number to your drone, not only the drone's name, because one family can use more than one pack. Original batteries cost more but talk properly to the drone and its firmware. Some cheaper compatible packs work well, others report the wrong charge level, which is a real risk on the way home. If you are offered used packs, or buy a second-hand drone with spares, ask for the cycle count and cell health from the app, and walk away from any pack that is swollen, dented or warm when it should be cold.

Charging, storage and travel

Lithium polymer packs store a lot of energy and need respect. Store them at about half charge in a cool, dry place, never in a hot car or in direct sun. Never charge a pack unattended, and never charge or fly one that has puffed up. A fire-resistant bag or a metal box is cheap protection at home and on the road. When you fly with an airline, carry drone batteries in your hand luggage, not in checked bags, and check the airline's own limits before you pack. Let a pack cool after a flight before you recharge it.

What drives the price and how to compare quotes

A spare flight battery costs about R999 to R5,700, depending on the drone, the capacity and whether it is original. Charging hubs, car chargers and storage bags are priced as accessories. When the quotes arrive, check that each one names the same capacity, says original or compatible, states the warranty and whether the pack is in stock or ordered in, and includes delivery. A bundle of batteries with a charging hub is often better value than buying them one by one.

What to include in your request

  • The exact drone model and battery part number
  • How many spare packs you want
  • Original only, or compatible packs as well
  • Whether you also need a charging hub or car charger
  • Delivery address or collection, and when you fly next

Drone Batteries for different clients

  • Hobbyists and families: two or three spare packs so a family holiday flight is not cut short
  • Farmers and growers: enough charged packs to fly the whole farm boundary in one morning
  • Estate agents and developers: spare batteries so an agent can shoot several listings in one day
  • Builders, engineers and installers: a rotation of packs for weekly progress flights over a large site
  • Mines, plants and utilities: large enterprise packs and a fast charging station for inspection teams
  • Photographers, film crews and agencies: a full set of packs and a hub so a wedding shoot never stops
  • Security companies and estates: a steady supply of charged packs for patrol drones on long shifts
  • Municipalities, schools and NGOs: reliable spare batteries for search and rescue and conservation flights

Frequently asked questions

How long does a drone battery last?
In the air, a camera drone battery usually gives about 20 to 45 minutes, less in wind, heat or at altitude, and always land with a reserve. Over months of use a pack slowly loses capacity. The drone's app often shows cycle count and cell health, so you can see when a pack is getting tired and should be retired.
Are cheaper compatible drone batteries safe to use?
Some are, some are not. A compatible pack must report its charge level correctly to the drone, or the return-home warning can come too late. Buy from a seller who offers a warranty and can tell you which firmware it works with. For expensive drones and paid work, most pilots stick with original batteries.
Can I take drone batteries on a plane?
Usually yes, in your hand luggage and not in checked bags. Airlines set the limits on battery size and number, so check with your airline before you travel. Tape over exposed contacts or use a battery bag, keep the packs at a low or storage charge, and never pack a swollen battery.
Do you sell drone batteries yourselves?
No. We are a free quote service and keep no stock. Your request goes to independent drone shops and resellers who serve your area, and they send you their own prices, stock and warranty details. You compare the replies and buy from whoever suits you, with no obligation to accept any quote.
